Ignis appoints Robert Bricout as General Counsel

Ignis Asset Management has appointed Robert Bricout as General Counsel. Robert will join Ignis at the end of January and will be responsible for Ignis’ Legal and Company Secretariat functions based in London and Glasgow.

Robert joins Ignis from Investec Asset Management, where he was Head of the Legal and Technical Department reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. A dual qualified solicitor, he was previously a partner in private practice at two of the top law firms in South Africa

Reporting to Tim Roberts, Chief Operating Officer, Robert will be responsible for leading the legal function, the company secretarial function, overseeing external lawyers and advising the Ignis Board of Directors on major decisions, particularly where they involve transactions and contractual matters.

The appointment follows a number of other key hires in 2010, including; Mark Lovett who joined from Allianz RCM as Chief Investment Officer – Equities, Laura Brown who joined from McKinsey & Company as Chief Strategy Officer, Michiel Timmerman who joins in January from Aberdeen Asset Management as Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Ignis Advisers, and Marcia Campbell who also joins in January 2011 as Director of Operations.
